FESTIVALS:
· Story of London October 1-10 2010Here's our day-by-day guide to the Story of London festival, a series of events focusing on the theme of London's future, examining what the city's heritage reveals about past breakthroughs, how innovation is an economic engine and how the city can innovate as it faces the challenges of the twenty-first century
· The Big Draw Until Sun Oct 31The month-long, annual festival designed to provide opportunities for people of all ages to discover, or return to, the pleasure of drawing features hundreds of events set to take place at venues countrywide. More than 500,000 people are expected to take part this year, exploring different ways of seeing the world with some of the UK's leading designers, illustrators, scientists, artists, architects and engineers.
· London Games Festival Until Wed Nov 3City-wide events celebrating computer and video games. Highlights include the 'Eurogamer Expo' at Earl's Court (Oct 1-3) and 'The London Games Conference' (Nov 4).
· Across the Street, Around the World Until Sat Oct 23A festival of film, music, literature, visual and performing arts focusing on the cultural diversity of Kensington and Chelsea. Events are held at venues including Kensington Town Hall and Leighton House;
· Hampstead Heath Conker Championships Sun Oct 10The annual festival features representatives from the RSPB, the National Trust and volunteer group Heath Hands; there's also a chance to take part in a tug-of-war contest (1.30pm), have a go at long bow archery and welly wangling (11.00am-1.00pm), then head to the bandstand for the conker comp (3pm). There are knock-out rounds for kids aged 5-16 and adults with a trophy for each winner.
